BALTIMORE, MD: On Saturday, December 19 & Sunday, December 20, 2009, Sankofa Dance Theater will perform in concert. A concert by the Sankofa Dance Theater is an event that stands alone . . . perfect for a date night or a night out on the town, a celebration of African heritage, or a tribute to multicultural diversity. The company presents the drumming, dancing, music, songs, and stories born of the traditions of Africa in a format choreographed for stage presentation with colorful, vibrant, artful costumes that are skillfully designed and crafted to take you on an imaginary journey to the Motherland.
Kono ... The Flight of the Bird is a celebration of the African spirit through the pulsating drums, electrifying dance, and spectacular costumes of the Sankofa Dance Theater. The company brings New World choreography and texture to the Old World traditions of Africa.
