An in-depth presentation addressing the current implementation of the 2013 California Energy Code, Part 6, Title 24, Effective July 1, 2014, and the design and construction implications for roofs, walls, skylights, and windows.
Speaker: Paul Simony, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Skyco Skylights
Features over 28 Years of Senior Sales Management experience with several different skylight companies, working with designers, Architects, Specification writers, roofing consultants and contractors, General Contractors and glazing contractors. As a member of AAMA (American Architectural Manufacturers Association) Paul has chaired numerous committees and task groups related to energy codes and standards, smoke and heat ventilation, skylight performance standards, skylight fall-protection, and skylight marketing. Paul performs daylight energy analysis utilizing the SkyCalc Daylight Simulation program, assists with LEED documentation, and works with Architects throughout the USA providing innovative and effective daylighting solutions. Recently, Paul was involved with the largest BIPV (Building Integrated Photovoltaic) Skylight in the USA, for Novartis Pharmaceutical.
Presentation Summary: Paul Simony will focus on Daylighting with Unit Skylights, with an emphasis on the current 2013 California Energy Code, Part 6, Title 24, requirements related to glazing and performance standards and daylighting controls, which became effective on July 1, 2014. This presentation will provide 1 AIA (LU) Learning Unit in (HSW) Health, Safety and Welfare.

Michelle has promoted the benefits of SageGlass to architects, engineers, LEED & Energy consultants, USGBC, CSI and other professional organizations for over 6 years. Having worked as both an independent rep and for other manufacturers, Michelle has spent over 10 years' in the construction industry, specializing in daylighting technology.
Presentation Summary: Michelle Murray will talk about vertical window requirements. Glass options that meet the 2013 California Energy Code will be presented.

Philip Dregger, Professional Engineer, Registered Roof Consultant, Fellow of the Roof Consultants Institute, and President of Technical Roof Services in Concord, California. Philip has spent more than 25 years investigating, designing, and providing expert witness testimony regarding virtually all types of roof and waterproofing systems. Phil has special expertise in hygrothermal (moisture and heat) analysis and has authored technical articles and papers on the subject including "Cool Roof Cause Condensation Fact or Fiction".
