November 1st at the AllWays Lounge, Freaksheaux to Geaux celebrates the Feast of All Saints with their Feast of All Saints and Sinners. Ditching the usual Halloween fare of werewolves, vampires, goblins, and ghouls, the local circus-vaudeville show will present elaborate, sultry, and at times gory acts based on some of the Catholic church's most iconic martyrs - St. John the Baptist, St. Lucy, and the Crescent City's patron saint, Jeanne D'Arc (played by special guest, Sadie Hawkins, from Atlanta), to name a few.
The tableau will also include classic sinners - Eve and the Serpent played by Nikki LeVillain, who recently relocated to New Orleans after years of performing in the New York burlesque and belly dance scenes, a falling angel played by Ooops the Clown, and the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, re-imagined as trained circus ponies. While the subject matter implies a certain level of irreverence, the goal of the show isn't to be inflammatory, but to challenge the performers to think outside of the standard acts that become ubiquitous during the Halloween season and to give the audience something different when they've had their fill of witches and zombies.
This year's Feast promises to be particularly visually striking by featuring costuming made by the Seattle based idolatre clothing company and by local sculptor Gabriel Wimmer. Freaksheaux also stands out as the only show with it's own score written for it and performed live by it's band, which is fronted by Jak Locke and also features noted local musicians - Doctor Sick, Hannah Kreiger-Benson, Dante, Brandon Brunious, and Keith Hajjar.
The show will start promptly at 9:00pm as it will be followed by the AllWays Lounge's production of "Rocky Horror!"
