Lady Sarah Black always knew her destiny was to become the sultry singing siren of the most gothic and grievously macabre performing ensemble and to compose musical masterpieces about all things detestable, deviant, disturbingand dare one say, delectable.

So the Lady Black set about becoming the accomplished composer and chanteuse we all worship and adore. But she was faced with a serious predicament, barring her path to becoming the world's foremost Scary and Creepy (yet hauntingly irresistible) Gothic Diva. She needed another corruptible soul to help her realize her nefarious goals. Searching through the candidates at the conservatory, Sarah finally found a worthy specimen: an easily manipulated apt and talented pupil that was perfectly suited for her gothic performing needs. And to carry her luggage.

Unfortunately, Braxton Ballew played double bass. Nobody's perfect.

And so, Valentine Wolfe was born: Purveyors, Performers, and Composers of the finest Victorian Chamber Metal for Voice, Double Bass, and Electronics. Proudly providing elegant decadence for Living, Dead, and Otherwise, since 2006.

Valentine Wolfe is an electronic music group that features operatic female vocals, solo double bass, and electronica driven beats. You'll hear elements of metal, industrial, goth, trip-hop, j-rock, and classical blended together in a divine cocktail we call Victorian Chamber Metal. We like to think if you enjoy artists like Emilie Autumn, Apocalyptica, Nightwish, and Iron Maiden, you'll like us.

The boring-yet-accurate-biography:

Braxton Ballew and Sarah Black have been composing and performing music together as ValentineWolfe since 2006. Both hold graduate degrees from the University of Georgia, where they studied electronic composition with Dr. Leonard V. Ball. In addition, Sarah completed her Masters degree in composition studying with Dr. Adrian P. Childs. She currently studies voice with Lisa Barksdale from Furman University. Braxton holds a DMA in Double Bass Performance and has studied with Milton Masciadri, Albert Laszlo, and James Barket.

Many have speculated on who Vourteque is. It's unclear who these many are, but it's fairly well established somewhere that they exist. Further information on this subject is presently being withheld by a shadowy cabal of eastern European government agents.

He has many names. The Lord Baron, Joseph C.R. Vourteque, Joe Vor-Tech, Joe Rovner, Cracky McStevens and for some reason people think he's "Captain T. Captain" too.

Back in 1999, when people had money and club drugs were only "kind of illegal", Vourteque (or Vor-Tech as he was known back then), got his start as a promoter at infamous New York super club The Tunnel. Learning the ropes of all things DJ and event related, Vourteque went on to produce many successful events and shows in New York City and Brooklyn.

By the early 2000s Vourteque had DJed throughout New York, the east coast and the Midwest, having played shows for the likes of Larry Tee, Drop Bass Network, Fischerspooner, Vito Fun, and Dysco Noir. All the while he honed his skills as a producer, doing remixes for the likes of David Barrett, aka Yellow Note, Houston Bernard, and an unofficial hardcore break-beat remix of Bikini Kill's Rebel Girl.

In 2004, Vourteque decided to move to Chicago because half of his family lived there, and rent is REALLY REALLY cheap compared to NYC. He continued to DJ and produce, working with local producer/DJ-Mr. Automatic, on the band The Image Front while throwing pretty obviously illegal parties in his basement that seconded as a nightclub known as "The Velvet Elvis." In 2007 he joined up with DJ Fatboy and became part of rave-banger DJ group The BBK where he produced tracks such as Gas Bill and Dirty Car. He also did unofficial remix work for Lady Gaga that a whole lot of people liked and so now it's semi-unofficial remix work

In 2008, Vourteque became enamored of steampunk and working with Sam Flint created Steampunk Chicago. From there he's produced many large-scale events such as The Carnivale Delirium and The Clockwork Vaudeville series. He's also done remix work for the likes of Good Company, The Men That Will Not Be Blamed for Nothing, The Clockwork Dolls, Alkemic Generator and more . He's DJed throughout the United States and can be found at some of North America's largest steampunk and circus-punk events including but not limited to New York's Anachronism, Philadelphia's Dorian's Parlor, Detroit's Theatre Bizarre and Up in the Aether, Madison's Tesla-Con, Milwaukee's Dead Man's Carnival, Tampa's Steampunk Ball, St. Louis's Beggar's Carnivale, and North Carolina's ConTemporal.

He's performed with the likes of The Show Devils, The Swingrowers, The League of STEAM, Unwoman, Frenchy & The Punk, The Ford Theatre Reunion, The Squidling Brothers, Hellblinki and a ton of other amazing and fantastic people.

In the fall of 2012 he unleashed his very first release onto the world, The Swing Mechanical, an EP that coalesced his loves of the anachronistic, the hard and the dark into an awesome seething er something of seething awesomeness.

He's currently working on a full length album, fusing even more bizarre genres into something that will hopefully be both relevant and make lots of money. Oh and it'll be fun.

Yes, tons and tons and tons of fun!

brief Awakening (note the small b)

brief Awakening is a tribe of fairy creatures who can only effectively communicate through song and dance. Mandolin, guitar, ethereal vocals, synth, heart drums and harmonious overtones swirl, bubble, and trail wherever brief Awakening wanders.

Kat Arrants magically dances with strange synth noises spacially mixed with rhythmic piano whilst Lisa Santini engages the audience with whipping tendrils of sax melodies. The tiny beast that is Kara Petrucci stomps on the kick drum at the same time as flying around on her red dragon mandolin.

brief Awakening has been featured live on UnRegular Radio (Boston, MA) , City Wide Blackout (Boston, MA) ,Three Strange Women (Boston, MA), and Daddio Radio (Spartanburg, SC). They are currently recording their sophmore album "Feathers and Dust" to be released in the Fall of 2014.
