Our festival began humbly in the basement of a farm house on Pretty Hill owned by the Olson Family.
After 10 years of offering a weekend filled with movies, music and food, the festival outgrew Pretty Hill. A group of people formed the Board of the newly named Nordlys Film & Arts Fesitval, carrying on the home-grown reunion feel of Pretty Hill, and honoring its roots and vision.
Now entering our 6th year, the Nordlys Film & Arts Festival is a volunteer run festival celebrating film and music from around the world. Each year we gather on the Family Day Long Weekend in Camrose Alberta to pay homage to the traditions set forth by the Olson Family as we gather to watch movies from around the world that celebrate a universal connection to the human story.
Our festival includes a Saturday Night Concert with Mandolin Orange and throughout the weekend we have various special guests and filmmakers.
Details regarding the 2015 Festival are available on www.nordlysfestival.com. Follow us on Facebook or Twitter to find out news releases for the festival.
While our festival is open to all ages, we do ask that all participants go to our website to view film summaries and rating guides to ensure the film is suitable to your tastes. Some of our films come with warnings about language, gore, situational violence or sex.
