Rishloo, Dusks Embrace, Joshua Du Chene for HALLOWEEN!
Dear 'Shloovians:
Many of you have inquired as of late as to the status of the album, some quite desperately:
Lord_aoshi wrote:"at first they announced that the new album will be out in JULY :( but where is the newwww album.............................I NEED NEW ALBUM!!!" (from Last.fm)
Jason Sullivan: "Finish this bologna or let me preorder it so I can stop crying myself to sleep at night and immediately blow all my hard earned cash and then start crying myself to sleep at night all over again waiting for it to arrive. Please." (from Facebook)
Daniel Zetterstrom "Get this shit DONE!! TEASERS!! I can't wait any longer for the new album!!!! gaah!!" (from Facebook)
NickGerli wrote: "When the hell is the new album out?" (from Last.fm)
Let me say first, that I feel your pain. I too wish the album to be done. Many a sleepless night has passed whilst I worried over its failure to be concluded. Nonetheless, it will be released when it is ready, and I promise it will be worth the wait.
Here's the dilly-o, yo's: We have parts of two songs that still need vocals. Once those are taken care of, we're really not that far away. It's still too soon to offer any definitive deadlines, but the recording part of the album is getting close to being wrapped up.
Believe me, we hear your desire for the album, and we are extremely stoked to be able to give it to you. Feather Gun is at least as big a leap for us as Terras Fames was to Eidolon, and it's sounding about 10,000 times better than the audio you hear on the video blogs. In my opinion (my opinion of which is that it's just as valid as anyone else's, but none of you have heard what we have done yet so it's the only opinion you've got for now) is that it's both weirder and more listenable than both the first two. I think one of our unstated, and probably undefined attributes as a band, and part of what makes us an "experimental" outfit in a lot of ways, is to see if we can take something pretty bizarre and relate it meaningfully to normal life, and if musically, we can compose something unusual and have it turn out as something you don't want to stop listening to. It's prog rock, yo! (I'm feeling very 1994 today) So we're always moving forwards (except when we're talking about the 90's) and the music by nature must evolve. But the idea is that if we stay true to our path (not our "roots" as that's industry lingo for "oh shit we made a terrible album so we're going to remake something we already did") then we'll make honest art that displays where we are as people, how we feel about the world we're in, and that reflects our growth as musicians and entertainers. All art is self-indulgent to some degree. Anyone who says otherwise shouldn't claim to be an artist. But there's a difference between creating what is honest and contriving something deliberate. I truly believe this is the best manifestation yet of the musical aspect of Rishloo.
Thank you all so much for your excitement, interest, faith, badgering, concern, complaints, love, wishes, belief, impatience, frustration, and most of all the heartfelt passion without which you wouldn't bother to share all your emotions with us in the first place. We love you all, and we'll be sharing this newest installation as soon as humanly possible.
