Christus, Carols & Contemplation
To conclude this year's celebration of Mendelssohn's bicentenary, we will perform his unfinished oratorio on the life of Christ - a kind of combination of Hndel's Messiah and Bach's St. Matthew Passion (but much shorter!). Performances of the entire work are rare, and this one is joined by Vaughan Williams' beloved medley of English carols with baritone soloist and gorgeous masterpieces by three of today's leading choral composers.
