On Friday, November 6, 2009, The Flesh Hungry Dog Show presents 3 of Chicagos newest and most exciting power pop and post-punk bands. The Wanton Looks headline, with The Van Buren Boys and Modern Day Rippers rounding out the evening. DJ Sky spins between the bands, and Chicago rock impresario Gary Airedale hosts.
The Flesh Hungry Dog Show starts at 9:00 p.m. on Friday, Nov 6th, 2009 at Jackhammer (773-743-5772), 6406 N. Clark St. in Chicago. Jackhammer is a 21+ venue. Tickets are $10 and are available at the door, or online at www.fleshhungrydog.com.
The mission of The Flesh Hungry Dog Show is to bring live rock and related musical forms to Chicago's gay community, and to provide a fun, alternative venue for bands with GLBT content and members, and bands that are GLBT supportive.
The Wanton Looks The Wanton Looks are an all female power-pop band from Chicago. They will rock and roll you into a sweet sweat with their fuzzy, massive sounds, catchy choruses, sheer energy and joy. Compared to the Buzzcocks and The Runaways these girls are tough and lovely. You wont know who you want to watch more but lets just say that you wont ignore the drummer for a change.
The Van Buren Boys The Van Buren Boys blend of 70's punk and power pop laced with enough lead guitar to make Chuck Berry piss his pants. Imagine an unprotected mnage-a-trois with Johnny Thunders, The Exploding Hearts and The Ramones along with enough hair spray and tight pants to put a 1980s hooker to shame! Got the picture? What drugs and alcohol won't cure, these boys sure will. The Van Buren Boys came together in the spring of 2009 and are about to release their debut full length "Six String Love." Modern Day Rippers You thought you seen it all...you ain't seen nothin'. It's time to rip it up in a modern way, it's time to rip it up in the modern day, it's time for the MODERN DAY RIPPERS! Featuring members of Rotten Fruits, Tracer Bullet, Brothers In Crime and Hotlips Messiah, Modern Day Rippers lineup is: Zach Attack (drums), Richard Bastard (bass), Chris Shitface (guitar) and Germ (vocals). That's right this is a Chicago punk super group of sorts.
Modern Day Rippers made their stage debut June 09 playing Reggies Rock Club, Punkstock, and the Mutiny. M.D.R. have since played Tyger OStylies and Metal Shaker inspiring great response from the crowd. The band looks forward to recording their demo in Oct. 2009 "Rip It Up In a Modern Way!" Get ready for the new wave of no future.
