Opus 7 presents "Heaven's High Paradise"
Our annual Lenten concert will feature selections from "Songs of Farewell" by the great English Romantic composer C. Hubert Parry and the Northwest premiere of "The Sacrifice", a 30-minute cantata by Czech composer Antonin Tucapsky for choir with Gregory Carroll, baritone soloist and Joseph Adam, St. James Cathedral Organist. Because of growing political unrest in Eastern Europe, Tucapsky fled his native land in the 1970's and moved to London. The Sacrifice is a seven-movement work featuring the beautiful texts of 17th-century British poet George Herbert.
Opus 7 will also perform music by Pizzetti, Tartini, Grechaninoff, and others.
