Troika
Music at the Mission is proud to present its opening season concert, "Troika": a showcase line-up of repertoire from one of classical chamber music's most recognizable ensemble groupings, the piano trio. Starting the program is the exquisite Mendelssohn Piano Trio no. 1 in d minor followed by a journey into the evocative and stunning sound world of Ravel through his A Minor Piano Trio. Then immerse yourself in the foot-tapping, jazz-infused music of Paul Schoenfield and the jokester musings of Shchedrin's hilarious tongue-in-cheek depictions of the classical music world.
Program: Felix MENDELSSOHN Piano Trio no. 1, op. 49 in d minor Maurice RAVEL Piano Trio in a minor Rodion SHCHEDRIN Three Funny Pieces Paul SCHOENFIELD Café Music

AILEEN CHANCO, pianist: "her playing was steeped in expressiveness and tastefulness to the core" [The San Jose Mercury News]; "she is an attractively impetuous sort of soloist" [The Boston Globe]
