Saul Kaye: An Evening of Jewish Blues
November 21, 8:00 pm
$18 members, $24 non-members
In spirituals and the Delta blues, black musicians often looked to the Jewish Bible for inspiration. Kaye dips the Jewish slave experience into the African American slave musical tradition to compose a spate of songs based on Torah stories but with the guttugging sound of the South. Kaye writes soulful and fun music that is as appealing in its accessibility as it is in its versatility. Crooning about in a blues-rock fashion that could get even the most sleepy coffeehouse jumping, Saul Kaye[s] guitar playing is that good. .. his guitar work is steeped in originality. Vocally he accomplishes great harmonies while he sings true-to-form real stories that anyone can relate to. -- J-Sin Smother.net

A versatile musician with an innate gift for telling a story, Bruce Burger, AKA RebbeSoul, blends rock sensibilities, world-fusion stylings and traditional Hebrew melodies to create a sound that is ageless and progressive. RebbeSouls highly anticipated new album, Change The World With A Sound, mixes Mizrahi chant and electronic beats with his signature funk/folk/ethnic rock style. His compositions take acoustic rock into a mystical realm." -- Charles M. Young, Playboy
