Joan Laage is featured in the book, Dancing into Darkness: Butoh, Zen, and Japan. She performed with Yoko Ashikawa's group Gnome while living in Tokyo in the late 1980's and is a noted pioneer bringing Butoh to the Pacific Northwest, USA.
