La crisis afectiva de un matrimonio es tomada como ncleo dramtico en este filme, para reflejar los cambios operados en el seno familiar Cubano como consecuencia de las transformaciones sociales en el pas. Junto a la progresiva incorporacin de la mujer al trabajo, el filme muestra las actividades y reacciones emotivas impuestas por la tradicin, que impiden el desarrollo pleno de las relaciones sentimentales de la pareja y la bsqueda de una realizacin individual ms autntica: no es solamente "una tragedia" de la vida cotidiana...
