Legends never rest in peace when they are deep-rooted in a nations history. They are condemned to rise from the dead, again and again, at the dawn or end of each century. Los dioses rotos, directed and written by Ernesto Daranas, has become one of the most talked about movie since it was released across Cuba in December. Daranas film offers a modern version of the values represented by Alberto Yarini, the most famous Cuban pimp and political figure at the turn of the 20th century.
Las leyendas nunca descansan en paz cuando estn enraizadas en la historia de una nacin. Estn condenadas a resucitar, una y otra vez, en el alba o el fin de cada siglo. Los Dioses Rotos, dirigida y escrita por Ernesto Daranas, se ha convertido en una de las pelculas de ms. desde su primera presentacin en Cuba el pasado diciembre. La pelcula ofrece una versin moderna de los valores representados por Alberto Yarini, el proxeneta ms famoso y figura poltica cubana del comienzo del siglo XX.

Ernesto Daranas Serrana has performed in film, television, theatre and radio, writing and directing numerous documentaries and feature films where he received such awards as: King of Spain Award, Santiago lvarez Documentary Award, Sara Gmez Award for Documentary at the New Latin American Cinema Festival in Havana, Ibero American Independent Video Movement and the Caracol Award from the Union of Artists and Writers in Cuba as well as the Caribbean Broadcasting Awards. He received the Castelao Medal the highest cultural recognition from the Government of Galicia.
Ernesto Daranas se ha trabajado en el cine, la TV, el teatro y la radio. Ha sido director y guionista de numerosas obras documentales y de ficcin por las que ha merecido, entre otros: Premio Rey de Espaa, Premio Santiago lvarez de Documental, Premio Sara Gmez de Documental en el Festival de Nuevo Cine Latinoamericano de La Habana, Premio del Festival del Movimiento de Video Independiente Iberoamericano, varias veces premio Caracol de la Unin de Artistas y Escritores de Cuba y de la Caribbean Broadcasting Awards. Recibi la medalla Castelao, mximo reconocimiento cultural concedido por la Xunta de Galicia. Los Dioses Rotos es su pera prima para cine y ha ganado el premio de Cine en Construccin en el Festival de Cine de Gibara 2008. Premios del Pblico, de la Crtica Cinematogrfica y de la Crtica Cultural cubanas en el 30 Festival de Nuevo Cine Latinoamericano de La Habana. Seleccionada por Asociacin Cubana de la Prensa Cinematogrfica como la mejor pelcula cubana del 2008.
