We Are The Mods
Sadie has a pretty average high school life for a blossoming baby dyke: she's so devoted to her barely interested best friend that she will (literally) eat snails to help her get into French Club. So when the faux BFF gets into the club and (of course) doesn't have time for Sadie anymore, it's only natural that Sadie is drawn to new gal Nico. Sporting a cane and dressed to the nines inheight of mod revival fashion, Nico is sophisticated, exciting, and a little dangerous. Sadie, accompanied by her ever-present 35mm camera, discovers more than just the nightlife as she and Nico become fast friends.
The complicated relationship developing between Sadie and Nico isn't the only thing that makes WE ARE THE MODS a delight to watch: there's also the gorgeous vintage Vespas, the spot-on mod fashion, gorgeous vintage Vespas, and a kick-ass soundtrack of new retro tunes. Director E. E. Cassidys discerning debut feature pays playful homage to Antonioni and Godard and showcases winning performances by the two young leads. WE ARE THE MODS is a genuine and knowing love letter to youthful discovery and female friendship.
