A classic holiday concert with a brass octet to accompany the ChoraleÂs 90 voices. The program features Daniel PinkhamÂs Christmas Cantata and John RutterÂs Gloria. Additional works by Monteverdi, Gabrieli and Schuetz make this concert a perfect way to introduce the holiday season.
A Change of Tune March 26, 2010, 7pm OR March 27, 2010, 4pm
Capitol Hill Presbyterian Church 4th Street and Independence Ave, SE
Internationally acclaimed soprano Jacqueline Horner from Anonymous Four returns to the Chorale for two special performances. This chamber concert includes a modern setting of the "medical" text of the 12th century mystic, abbess, and composer Hildegard von Bingen. Works of Boulanger and Sviridov round out the concert, along with a selection from Scott Joplin's opera Treemonisha.
A Master Revealed June 4, 2010, 7pm OR June 5, 2010, 4pm
Capitol Hill Presbyterian Church 4th Street and Independence Ave, SE
The Chorale uncovers an unknown masterpiece combining the power of Orthodox liturgy and the haunting harmony of Georgian folk traditions. This new edition of Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom by Zakharia Paliashvili (1871-1933) has been specially prepared for these premiere performances.
