The Poet's Voice
In this opening concert of our Atlanta series, Skylark explores music whose poetic texts are masterworks in their own right poems by immortal voices of Shakespeare, Byron, Whitman, Auden, and Neruda. Through readings of some of these great poems, and performances of transcendent settings from composers including Britten, Vaughan Williams, Schuman, and Mealor, Skylark will bring to life some of humanity's greatest texts, sharing moments of beauty and inspiration that can arise from the marriage of a profound text and an inspired composer.
