Diamano Coura Presents The King's Only Daughter & M'Balsanny
"The King's Only Daughter", choreographed by Mr. Nimely Napla, is a Liberian epic of how a poor hunter wins the hand of the King's daughter in marriage; and M'Balsanny, choreographed by former Senegalese National Dance Company director Dr. Zakarya Diouf, is a Serrer epic about how a fisherman captures a baby mermaid, and provokes the mother to punish the entire village until the child is returned. These two stories incorporate dance, music, theater, visuals to transport the audience to the African villages from which they originated.  Diamano Coura will feature the song bird, Liberian folk singer, Princess Fatu Gayflor and renowned Sabar dancer from Senegal, Madam Ndeye Gueye and drummers Idrissa Gueye and Djamil Diop along with Dr. Zakarya Diouf, Madiou Diouf, and Darian LaFoucade.
