The Poet & The Con
Beit T'shuvah and Imaginese Productions Present
THE POET & THE CON
a film by Eric Trules

This "ambitious and provocative" documentary is about the relationship between Eric Trules - a prize-winning poet and performer - and his uncle, Harvey Rosenberg - an underworld enforcer and career criminal. It's a story about crime, family, morality, and redemption, as told by two very articulate and charismatic subjects.

Discover this intimate, compelling dynamicthen witness a sharp turn in the road when the family is forced to grapple with unexpected, jarringly ironic developments.events that propel the film towards a struggle for answers on a much larger stage.

"Trules speculates on the closeness of the creative and criminal impulsesIf ever there was an instance of good coming out of evil, this film is it, for Trules, in a most caring, sensitive way, makes the most of a drastic turn of events to consider how love and anguish become inextricably intertwined within deeply felt family ties."
- Kevin Thomas, LA Times

Trules is a theater professor at USC's School of Dramatic Arts, a spoken word artist, a former modern dancer & clown, and currently a blogger for the Huffington Post. His uncle Harvey was a one-time resident and staff member of Beit T'Shuvah  an incredible place that is both full-service Jewish temple and residential rehab.

Harvey was a good friend of Beit T'Shuvah Founder, Harriet Rosetto, and her husband, Head Rabbi Mark Borovitz  who will be leading a Q&A with Trules after the screening.
