Elliott Levin Trio, Monica McIntyre
Lucky Old Souls @ Moonstone is a monthly event, showcasing some of Philadelphias most creative musicians in a laid-back, BYOB venue that combines the intimacy of a club with a concert hall's respect for the music.

MONICA MCINTYRE is an engaging and passionate performer who brings every aspect of her spirit to shows.  She wows audiences with her deep, frame-defying voice and unorthodox cello technique, which often involves the use of slapping, plucking, and strumming.  Her music effortlessly blends the genres of jazz, blues, soul, reggae and middle-eastern music, creating a unique musical landscape.  The smoky texture and emotional quality of her voice, as it delivers  her poetic lyrics, have left audiences crying, dancing, laughing, and testifying.  Monica started playing the cello at the age of 7 and studied classically for 11 years.  After graduating from the College of Design Arts at Drexel University, she returned to her first love and released her debut album Blusolaz in October 2003.  Monica has performed at numerous events throughout the country, most notably The Black Women's Art Festival, The Philadelphia Fringe Festival, Soul Sista's Jukejoint, and The 215 Festival.  In addition to performing solo and with her own band, Monica regularly performs with the Philadelphia-based ensemble Drake.  For more on Monica McIntyre, visit www.myspace.com/monicamcintyre.

ELLIOTT LEVIN is the ubiquitous Philadelphia musician.  He has played with everyone....  Elliott studied music and creative writing at the University of Oregon.  He also studied extensively with Michael Guera (former saxophonist with the Philadelphia Orchestra), Cecil Taylor, and Claire Polin.  Elliott has performed with groups including Cecil Taylor's Ensemble, Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes, Odean Popes Saxophone Choir, Scram!, New Ghost, Atzilut (Fourth World), and Talking Free Bebop. He has collaborated in performance with poets Miguel Algarin, Gloria Tropp, Mbali Umoja, Marty Watt, and Frank Messina & Spoken Motion, among many others.  Venues have included Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, The United Nations, The U.S. Embassy in Moscow, Yale University, The Greek Theater, Watts Towers, Lollapalooza!, and scores of galleries, clubs, and theaters.  Elliott can now be heard regularly around Philly with Bobby Zankels Warriors of the Wonderful Sound, the West Philadelphia Orchestra, and a variety of ad hoc bands.  Hes joined tonight by bassist WARREN OREE, the leader of the Arpeggio Jazz Ensemble, and GREG JU-JU JONES, Arpeggios longtime drummer, a veteran who has performed with Donald Byrd, Odean Pope, John Blake, and countless other musicians young and old.  Oree has toured and/or recorded with Jamaladeen Tacuma, Odean Pope, Khan Jamal, and Hamiet Bluiett and performed with Wynton Marsalis, Donald Byrd, Norman Connors, and others.  He is also the cofounder of Lifeline Music Coalition, which presents the annual West Oak Lane Jazz & Arts Festival.  For more on Elliott Levin, visit www.myspace.com/elliottlevin.
