Austin Baroque Orchestra presents "Youthful Indiscretions"
We've all done things in our youth that we probably wish we hadn't, but the musical products of the early years of the careers of some popular composers are far from regrettable! In their short lives, Pergolesi, Mozart, Schubert, and Mendelssohn created an amazingly diverse output that easily holds its own compared to that of composers who lived longer.

Pergolesi represents the epitome of the Neapolitan galant style, and his stirring Salve Regina, sung by award-winning Dallas soprano Anna Popova, is similar to his better-known Stabat Mater. Mozart's tuneful Violin Concerto in G major will feature concertmaster Edmond Chan, and we'll round the program out with one of Mendelssohn's incipiently Romantic symphonies for string orchestra and Schubert's light and lively Symphony no. 5, the first period-instrument performance of a Schubert symphony in Austin!
