Known for his daring explorations of young gay love (The Blossoming of Maximo Oliveros, Tuli), director Auraeus Solitos latest film, Boy, is a funny and touching story of a young poet who falls in love with a macho dancer. The boy, who is unnamed, visits a gay bar for the first time to observe lip-synching drag-queens and dancing rent-boys and finds himself smittened to Aries, one of the boys who dances in the bar. Young and not well-off, the boy wants to rent Aries but could not afford it. He decides to sell his comic book collection, return to rent the dancer, and take him home for New Year's Eve. The two forge a connection that neither of them is certain will last.
