Biography Speaker: Mark Parry
Wm. Mark Parry is a practicing architect and enthusiastic educator in architectural history and design practice. He founded Idea Studios (IdeaStudios.com) in 1988 and ArtisanArchitecture.com in 2012.
He has a substantial portfolio of completed works including 30% historic, 40% moderate-to-high-end custom homes and transformative renovations, and 30% specialty commercial and hospitality. Mark's education Included concurrent degrees in Architecture and Interior Architecture from Arizona State University, followed by an internship and staff position with the Frank Lloyd Wright foundation. These established his sustainable- site driven design principles.
Mark is a third-generation Artisan Architect having been the last associate of Calvin C Straub, F.A.I.A. A prominent architect and educator who was raised in the Pasadena Arroyo Craftsmen culture. Straub advanced the arts and crafts tenants he learned from personal relationships with the Green Brothers, F.L. Wright, R.M. Schindler and others through his internationally known Mid-Century Modernism and as a Professor of Architecture at USC and ASU.
Mark believes real passion for architecture is caught, not taught. He shares his love of architectural history and accomplishing Artisan Architecture through his seminars, lectures, courses and architectural practice.
