The dark complexity and expressive power of Gyorgy Ligeti's Quartet No. 2 combines with the sprightliness of Beethoven's early Quartet in G Major opus 18 and the lush sonority of Dvorak's Quartet No. 13 in G Major in this concert of emotionally resonant works. The Jasper String Quartet, formed at the Oberlin Conservatory and recipient of multiple honors, plays with sparkling vitality and great verve.
