Music for Oud and Lute: The First 600 Years
In vibrant duets, oud virtuoso and composer Mnir Nurettin Beken and lutenist August Denhard blend the styles and traditions of nearly 600 years of Middle Eastern and European music. Their fleet, energetic performances span Renaissance Europe and Ottoman court music to contemporary compositions; this concert features works by Francesco Canova da Milano, Joanambrosio Dalza, Diego Ortiz, Tanburi Emin Aga, and others. Beken and Denhard have performed as a duo since 2003, including concerts in Town Hall's Zing Go the Strings series. Presented by Town Hall, with Jack Straw Productions.
