BAGHDAD DIARY
Before the War in Iraq began in March 2003 a Norwegian journalist smuggled a video camera into Baghdad for Fidel Kamdon, an Iraq taxi driver. From 2003-2007, Kamdons video diary includes his familys preparations fro war, the days of bombs and missiles and Baghdads fall. His camera unmasks the horrors of Saddams torture houses and mass graves, celebrates the return of religious freedom in Karabala, records the horrific explosions of insurgent and sectarian violence and the disintegration of Iraqi civil society.
Concurrently, NBC cameraman Craig White, embedded with the Third Infantry Division with his friend, NBC Correspondent David Bloom, brought the Iraq War into American living rooms, live from a U.S, Army tank and the Bloodmobile satellite vehicle. Racing toward the Iraqi capital, Craig Whites camera rides with American soldiers as they fight their way to Baghdad. In nine dangerous trips to Iraq, his camera records emotional and graphic scenes including the death of his NBC colleague David Bloom and the ambush at Objective Curly, a battle so fierce, Craig White thought he would not survive.
Baghdad Diary is Fadil Kamdons and Craig Whites Story, videotaped by each of them at great personal risk. Their video cameras reveal the mounting fear as Iraqi streets become increasingly deadly. This is their Baghdad Diary a cautionary tale of human toll.
