Willy K at St Joseph Cultural Center in Grass Valley August 22 with Joe Cano
Raised on Maui, Willie Kahaiali`i (a.k.a.Willie K.) has been playing music and entertaining audiences since the age of 10. His father Manu Kahaiali`i, one of Hawaiis most respected musicians, recruited Willie and his brothers to perform in his band. Willie was influenced by and exposed to a myriad of musical genres, and has evolved into an eclectic and charismatic singer/songwriter/entertainer. By his high school graduation, Willie was playing in as many as eight bands from country and western, salsa, rhythm and blues, rock, and Hawaiian. A few years later, he moved to San Francisco, determined to make it in the music scene.

After several years and one too many earthquakes, Willie returned to Maui with renewed fortitude. His first three albums changed the direction of contemporary Hawaiian music, sweeping up multiple Na Hoku Hanohano Awards. After two more recordings, he teamed up with Amy Hanaiali'i Gilliom. He produced three albums with Amy and earned two Na Hoku Hanohano Awards for Producer of the Year.

Willie K. has played with and/or opened for such musical giants as B.B. King, Santana, Al DiMeola, Willie Nelson, Prince, Crosby, Stills and Nash, Elvin Bishop, Bonnie Rait, Jackson Browne, Mick Fleetwood, George Benson and Jimmy Buffett. By the end of 2004, Willie garnered national attention with appearances on VH-1s 100 Greatest Love Songs, Extra, performing the halftime shows on Monday Night Footballs Jets vs. Raiders game, and the 2004 NFLs Pro Bowl. In 2004, Willie also received his first Grammy nomination for his collaboration with Amy Gilliom for their Amy & Willie Live CD. In 2005, Willie began performing with Eric Gilliom and formed The Barefoot Natives whose recordings earned him an additional Hoku award for Best New Artist.

Willie is concentrating on his solo career while collaborating in another venture, this time with Mauis own Joe Cano and Avi Ronen from Israel, the newly acclaimed acoustic Jazz trio Lima Wela. They are creating music that has reached high standards amongst listening fans, saying, Its like building a bridge between three worlds and crossing over, and communicating with music.

Joe Cano, internationally known for his repertoire of musical styles and ethnic fusion, has played guitar seemingly since birth. Taught, tutored and gene enhanced by his father, a professional guitarist of the same name, Joe Cano was performing with Jorge Santana while he was still a teenager.

Stints with George Benson, Sheila E, Tom Scott, and Al Di Meola have only further secured his reputation as one of the worlds finest guitarist. Couple this with over 300 songs written and produced, as well as numerous world tours, Joe Cano is someone to be respected and heard.
