Urban Opera presents Dido and Aeneas directed by Chip Grant.
Henry Purcell's Dido and Aeneas is one of the first English operas. It is based on the story from Virgil's Aeneid of Dido, legendary Queen of Carthage, and the Trojan hero, Aeneas. When Aeneas and his crew are shipwrecked in Carthage, he and the queen fall in love. However, Aeneas must soon leave to found civilization in Italy. Dido cannot live without him and awaits death.
