Summertime Serenade
Baritone, Woodrow Bynum, and Pianist, Ryan Reilly perform at the UAM Fine Arts Center in Monticello, AR on July 24th @ 7:00 pm.

"Woodrow Bynum will be returning to Monticello for a SEARK Concert Summertime Serenade on Thursday, July 24 at 7:00 pm.  Ryan Reilly, a Juilliard graduate in piano performance, will join him on stage, both as accompanist and as concert pianist.  Both artists will teach a Master Class the following day to area students selected by audition.  Bynum says, "It's great to be coming home and seeing folks I haven't seen in a while.  Usually when I am visiting my parents, I rarely leave the farm, instead spending time birding in the woods behind the house.  This is a rare treat, to get to finally perform in Monticello and to show my appreciation to all the teachers and friends who have meant so much to me."

Dear Friends of Seark Concert,

Have we got a delightful surprise for you! We've been pursuing Woodrow "Woody" Bynum to come home to southeast Arkansas and do a concert for the past three years. But he's been heavily involved in his work at the Cathedral of All Saints in Albany, NY as well as sharing his "gorgeous oiled-walnut baritone" performing in venues both around the U.S. and Europe.  He finally got a break in his schedule and is coming to see his parents, Judy and Bart, in Collins toward the end of July.  

Although Seark Concert's never offered a summer event to my knowledge, the Board agreed unanimously that we couldn't pass this up. We're thrilled to offer you this bonus event. It's not a part of our regular Season Ticket Holders package. So we're planning to donate any proceeds to the UAM Fine Arts Center to say thanks for our partnership and to help update their lighting equipment. Bring your checkbook for creative extras, and plan to join us for this excellent fun!

Sally Kirst is organizing a reception in the Spencer Gallery at intermission and then later friends old & new can "Meet & Greet" Woodrow and Ryan after the concert. Additionally, he & Ryan are willing to perform at club meetings in the area. Or if you're hosting a special event and would like to enlist their talents, we can give you their contact information.

On Friday,the 25th at 1:00 pm, they plan to hold a Master Class at the Fine Arts Center for piano and voice.  This is open to 12 year olds through college-aged singers and pianists. If you know a gifted musician who wants to apply for this limited-seating class, please invite them to our website www.searkconcert.org for an application.

Woodrow Bynum was hired by the Cathedral of All Saints in Albany, NY since 2007. A native of Arkansas, Bynum did his undergraduate work at the University of Michigan before heading to Juilliard. When he accepted the appointment, he had been choirmaster for two years at an Episcopal school in Dallas. After a performance in Texas, Scott Cantrell of the Dallas Morning News described Bynum as "a gorgeous oiled-walnut baritone, (with) elegant diction and delivery."
