Award winning Americana, Folk & Traditional Bluegrass from Boston & The Bay Area

A great double bill as award-winning songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Molly Tuttle leads her trio in their San Francisco debut, performing together in concert with SF Bay Area bluegrass banjo legend Bill Evans. Both artists have appeared on A Prairie Home Companion and at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, in addition to festivals all over the US. Bill has also performed with the San Francisco Symphony.

With nearly two million viewers on YouTube and features in Bluegrass Now, Flatpicking Guitar and Acoustic Guitar magazines, Molly Tuttle is a rising star in the acoustic music scene. A virtuoso multi-instrumentalist and award winning songwriter with a distinctive voice, Molly recently was awarded Best Female Vocalist and Best Guitar Player by the Northern California Bluegrass Society, and won 1st place in the prestigious Chris Austin Songwriting Competition at Merlefest. Molly has been performing on stage since she was 11 and recorded her first album at age 13.  With a unique blend of sensational songwriting and amazing instrumental ability The Molly Tuttle Trio (with John Mailander and Brittany Karlson) creates an honest and soulful mix of original and traditional music, with a deep respect for the past, while also looking toward the future of acoustic music. This tight-knit trio formed after meeting at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA.

As a world-reknowned performer, teacher, writer, scholar and composer, Bill Evans brings a deep knowledge, intense virtuosity and contagious passion to all things banjo, in a career that spans over thirty-five years.
In The Banjo in America, Bill presents the music from his three chart topping CDs and takes the listener on a musical adventure, following the banjo from its West African roots to the New World, performing musical examples from the 1700's to the present day on vintage instruments. From an 18th century African dance tune to the music of the Civil War, and from early 20th century ragtime to folk and bluegrass banjo styles to Bill's own incredible original music, The Banjo in America illuminates as well as entertains, exposing audiences to over 250 years of banjo music.  He has toured with acoustic luminaries David Grisman, Peter Rowan, John Reischman, and Tony Trischka, among many others.
