Event
Occidental Brothers Dance Band Intl
Chicagos Occidental Brothers Dance Band Intl plays classic Central and West African dance music-specializing in soukous, Highlife, Rumba, Dry Guitar, and other delights from the great continent. The multi-racial band mixes backgrounds in traditional African music, jazz, and underground rock to create electrifying live shows with the likes of Afropop legend Oliver Mtukudzi and art-pop superstar Andrew Bird. The band collaborated this fall with Samba Mapangala on Obama Ubarikiwe, a hit song in praise of then-presidential candidate Barack Obama that spread all over the internet. Find out why their last appearance at SPACE was the dance party of the year! Doors at 7:30pm, music starts at 8pm, $10 advance, $12 at the door, 18+ (Children permitted with parental guardian)
