RESA
In Rumpus Room Dance's latest project RESA, the directors Stephan Laks, Rachel Tess, and their collaborators are excited to renew their commitment to exploring the theme of tension and transition in Portlands evolving urban neighborhoods. Along with four other dancers, they will re-invent the performance space at Disjecta during a month-long residency.
RESA is a series of mise en scene, a collection of experiences and observations tied together by the theme of journey. The idea of physical, emotional, and spiritual journeys is documented and exposed by blending contemporary dance with film, theatrical elements, and lighting design by Michael Mazzola. The audience travels through the evening as one would approach a journey: encounters occur, single incidences change your course, and the destination is never what you expected.
