Opening Concert: European Journey
In European Journey, the opening concert of Summer Sounds 2009, Staunton Music Festival will present:
J. Strauss - Rosen aus dem Sueden, op.388, arranged by Schoenberg
Debussy - Violin Sonata
J.S.Bach - Toccata, Adagio, and Fugue in C, S.564
Dvorak - Five Biblical Songs, op.99
Dohnanyi - Piano Quintet in C, op.1
Performers will include: Diane Pascal (violin), Erin Keefe (violin), Vladimir Mendelssohn (viola), James Wilson (cello), David Schrader (harmonium, organ), Carsten Schmidt (piano), Michael Haag (bass), Gabriel Dobner (piano).
The concert will take place in Staunton, Virginia's historic Trinity Church, a particularly refined example of the Gothic Revival in Virginia, built in 1855.
