Aaron Demby Jones Piano Improvisation Workshop
Villa Musica is pleased to present an improvisation workshop with Aaron Demby Jones, who holds degrees in music and mathematics from Brown University and a PhD in Media Arts and Technology from UC Santa Barbara. Aaron has improvised live for the AmateurPianists recitals many times and has recorded multiple albums of improvised piano music. In this workshop, Aaron will demonstrate how to break free from the tyranny of sheet music through playful exploration. Using simple constraints and your own ears as guides, discover how classical musicians can improvise through curiosity and listening without needing jazz theory, complex chords, or years of specialized training. The session features live demonstrations and hands-on exercises that participants can continue exploring at home.
