This year for our Bowling for Rhinos event we are going to try something a little different. We're excited to do CURLING for Rhinos!
Saturday June 7th 4:30 pm to 9:30 pm. We will have 2 shifts for curling; first from 5-7p.m., second from 7-9p.m. (choose one or the other!)
How much: $20 just to eat/hang out (party only) and $30 to curl and eat. (plus a small online registration fee)
As with all of our "Bowling for Rhinos" fundraisers, participants are asked to raise a minimum of $30 in sponsorship. Prizes will be awarded to the 2 participants at our event who raise the most in sponsor dollars.
If anyone is unfamiliar with curling, here is a link and address to the Club where we are holding our event:
Granite Curling Club of Seattle 1440 N 128th Street, Seattle, WA.
http://curlingseattle.org/
Don't worry about whether or not you or others know how to curl, because an hour of instruction on the ice is included as part of the event.
THERE IS A LIMIT OF 40 CURLERS PER SHIFT, WHICH MEANS A TOTAL OF ONLY 80 PEOPLE WILL BE ALLOWED TO CURL. SIGN UP EARLY! (note: you may only sign up for one curling shift)
Everyone is welcome to come and hang out to eat and show support for Rhino Conservation. Invite your friends!
This year we will be offering a taco bar, supplied by Pecado Bueno in Fremont.

In addition to food and curling we will have a raffle and bingo, and will be selling Tshirts, Northwest Cellars Wine, Endangered Species Chocolate, and custom made Curling for Rhinos scarves!

Help strike out extinction at the Puget Sound chapter of the American Association of Zoo Keepers 2014 Curling for Rhinos fundraiser.
This is your opportunity to demonstrate your support for endangered rhinos and the worldwide effort to conserve endangered species. Please remember that when these animals are gone, it's forever; there is no bringing them back. You can help the Puget Sound AAZK achieve its goal of raising $13,000 by coming to our fundraiser on Saturday June 7th, 2014 and helping us to raise funds.
There are three ways you can help the Puget Sound AAZK reach its Curling for Rhinos goal:
1) Register to curling for $30.(plus a small online registration fee) We will have 2 shifts for curling; first from 5-7p.m., second from 7-9p.m. (choose one or the other!) Every curler is required to raise at least $30 in sponsor donations. Fundraising can be done in person, or by using our online donation page. All donations must be submitted to the PSAAZK by June 7th. Curlers registration includes 2 hours of Curling, instructions, and access to the Taco bar. Curling skill does not matter! We do not collect per-point donations so you can focus on having fun, not your score.
2) Register to come to the party for $20. (plus a small online registration fee) Partiers are welcome to bring in sponsor donation, but it is not required. Partier registration includes access to the Taco bar.
3) Can't make it to the event? Find someone who is on our facebook page and make a donation in their name here.

Whats in it for you? Besides feeling good about yourself, we have some great prizes for this years top two fund raisers and raffle drawings participants!

Not sure? Here's why this event is important
In the continuing effort to protect the worlds highly endangered rhinos and the species they share their habitats with, zoo keepers across the nation sponsor the annual "Bowling for Rhinos" fund raiser. 100% of all proceeds will go directly to support Lewa Wildlife Conservancy (LWC) in Kenya; and to Ujung Kulon, Bukit Barisan Selatan, and Way Kambas National Parks in Indonesia through the International Rhino Foundation. LWC is a 65,000 acre sanctuary which protects the black rhinos as well as everything from orchids to elephants residing within the sanctuary. Ujung Kulon National Park is home to the last 47 Javan rhinos in the entire world!! Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park is a 3500 square kilometer lush, lowland tropical rainforest where the Sumatran rhino, tigers, and Malayan sun bear live. Proceeds from Bowling for Rhinos also support Action for Cheetahs.
Poaching is on the rise, and habitat degradation continues, threatening vulnerable rhino populations. The American Association of Zoo Keepers (AAZK) expresses its concern for the plight of the rhino by taking action. Bowling for Rhinos raises $200,000 to $300,000 annually to help in this work, and over $4.7 million has been raised since its inception in 1991. Our goal remains to raise enough money to save these valuable ecosystems for future generations.
