Composite wood decking is a durable, environmentally sustainable product that can help build links with nature through outdoor living spaces. This course examines the different decking options and explains the sustainability benefits of using composite decking and how it can help meet green building requirements. Various design innovations that enhance occupant well-being are also discussed.
Learning Objectives:
Discuss the advantages of composite decking and how it contributes to creating safe, sustainable, and aesthetically pleasing outdoor living spaces that enhance user safety and well-being.
Compare different decking solutions and identify the parameters for selection, the inherent qualities that differentiate these solutions, and their contribution to improving exterior spaces visually and sustainably, with occupant wellness in mind.
Recall the sustainability benefits of composite decking and how it can help meet LEED® v4.1 Building Design and Construction requirements for open spaces and recycled materials.
Describe innovations in outdoor living design and emerging additions and technologies that contribute to improved appearance and safety for the enjoyment and well-being of occupants.
