Father's Day Jazz with Alexis Cole and Mark Finkin Quartet
Celebrate Fathers Day with a unique musical experience as acclaimed jazz vocalist Alexis Cole joins her father, accomplished pianist and composer Mark Finkin, for My Fathers Heart. This special concert will feature a blend of original Christian compositions by Mark and jazz standards by Cole. Together they have performed at NYV venues Blue Note Jazz and St.Peters Jazz Church.
Alexis Cole, hailed as one of the great voices of today by Jonathan Schwartz has been compared to jazz legends such as Sarah Vaughn and Anita ODay. She has performed with The Boston Pops and The New York Philharmonic gracing stages from Avery Fisher Hall to The Kennedy Center. Beyond her performance career she is also esteemed educator, having served as head of vocal jazz at SUNY Purchase and as a professor at William Patterson University. She is also the founder and director of JazzVoice.com, an online educational community for jazz vocalists.
Mark Finkin, a seasoned pianist, singer, and composer has a rich musical background including studies at Music and Arts High School in New York City and further education in composition and piano at The College of Emporia and The Atlantic University on Maui, Hawaii, finishing his studies at Skidmore College. His original Christian songs aim to guide listeners toward a deeper connection with God the Father through His son, Jesus.
The concert will also include Tarik Shah on bass and Daniel Ganzalez on drums. Finkins younger daughter Bethany will make a guest appearance on vocals, elevating the Fathers Day experience!
