1685 was a very good year! It produced three musical giants of the late Baroque period - JS Bach, Handel and Domenico Scarlatti. Today's concert celebrates not only their glorious music, but it also highlights the fascinating international, trans-European world of the Baroque Era; a world where art, architecture and music crossed the boundaries of European nationalities and national styles, and genres were shared between North and South, West and East. We hope to evoke the fire, energy and passion of this international scene in this concert. Artistic Director Terry Edwards leads the Calgary Bach Choir and Chamber Orchestra, together with guest vocal soloists Andrea Hill, soprano, Aoife Bonaventura, alto and Peter Monaghan, bass-baritone. JS Bach: Cantata 62 Domenico Scarlatti: Miserere in e Avison/Scarlatti: Concerto grosso 1 Handel: Utrecht Jubilate
