An extraordinary feature-length documentary about the messianic German director Werner Herzog struggling against desperate odds in the Amazon basin to make his epic feature, Fitzcarraldo. Burden of Dreams was honored with a British Academy Award for Best Documentary of 1982, and many critics consider it Blanks most awesome film.
Directed by Les Blank, the multi-award winning documentary director of Garlic is as Good AsTen Mothers, Lightn Hopkins, Werner Herzog Eats His Shoe among many others.
The film received the 1983 British Academy Film Award for Best Documentary, and it was named Best of Festival at the San Francisco Film Festival the same year.[8]
