The premiere of Once Upon a Time in the Andes is a highlight of the festival, celebrating Peruvian cinema and offering audiences a unique opportunity to experience the story of women who followed their husbands into combat in the 19th century, forced to fight if their husbands were unable. The young shepherdess Margarita defies expectations when she saves an injured Chilean soldier, choosing the opposing side. The film is presented in Spanish and Quechua.

Synopsis:
A journalist documents the experiences of three different people who lived through the tragic 12-year-long Salvadoran Civil War in the 1980s, exploring themes of childhood loss, violence against women and the indigenous population, and regaining a sense of hope for the future that spans over three generations.

Synopsis:
In the Peruvian Andes, Margarita, an Andean shepherdess, finds Lautaro, a dying Chilean soldier who has managed to flee from a battle. She decides to take him to her home and care for him. When her father finds out, he agrees to hide Lautaro, putting his family at risk, with the only condition being that he must leave once he recovers. Over time, and despite their linguistic differences, the shepherdess and the soldier begin to develop an intimate relationship. When Lautaro is discovered, he is taken prisoner, but his life is spared when it is revealed that the shepherdess is expecting his child.

Sinopsis:
En los Andes peruanos, Margarita, una pastora andina, encuentra a Lautaro, un soldado chileno moribundo que ha logrado escapar de una batalla. Ella decide llevarlo a su casa y cuidarlo. Cuando su padre se entera, acepta esconder a Lautaro, poniendo a su familia en riesgo, con la única condición de que debe irse una vez que se recupere. Con el tiempo, y a pesar de las diferencias lingüísticas, la pastora y el soldado comienzan a desarrollar una relación íntima. Cuando Lautaro es descubierto, es hecho prisionero, pero su vida se salva cuando se revela que la pastora está esperando su hijo.
