An Evening with Amy Leah Potter, RN, Médecins Sans Frontières
May 7, 2024 7:30pm - 9:00pm (Pacific Time)

Register now for an evening webinar with registered nurse Amy Leah Potter, as she shares insights from her recent assignment working with Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) in Gaza and about the patient stories behind the term "collateral damage".

Amy Leah, a seasoned Canadian healthcare professional, brings over two decades of expertise in trauma and global health.  She has worked extensively with MSF in Africa and the Middle East. We hope you join us on May 7th for this second webinar for health care workers in a series on Palestinian solidarity by BC Nurses United for Social Justice.

About donations:
We have included a donation option for this event as the organizers have incurred out-of-pocket costs. If you feel like helping us cover those costs, please choose this option and select the amount you wish to donate ($5 min). Our costs include: Zoom webinar account, honorariums for speakers, gifts for the speakers, and tech support. Any funds received above our costs will be donated to an organization benefiting Palestinian people (i.e. UNWRA).

We also promote the support of this GoFundMe campaign for Majed Abuawad. Majed has been accepted into the PhD in Nursing program at UBC in Vancouver, BC to start in May 2024. The funds are to support Majed and his family in departing from Gaza safely and for him to travel to Canada.

About the organizers:
This event is organized by BC Nurses United for Social Justice. We are a grassroots, member-organized group of BCNU* members who believe health care workers should play a pivotal role in decolonization and the promotion of social justice from Canada to Palestine. We seek to educate and engage our colleagues to inspire self-reflection and action. Among us are Indigenous and settler nurses living and working on the unceded, occupied, and stolen lands across what is colonially known as British Columbia. To find what territory you are on, please visit: www.whose.land.
