Surfrider of South Florida Presents
The South Florida Surfrider Chapter will be screening the much talked about and highly anticipated surf film "OUT THERE", by Teton Gravity Research. This film is sure to delight the surfer in us all with gobs of 16mm and high-definition footage taken from around the world at numerous world class breaks; all shot during their finest hours (see film details below).
Doors will open Friday, April 24th, 6:30 pm at the Miami Beach Botanical Gardens, located due west of the Miami Beach Convention Center. You better bring the hunger and thirst because delicious food and cool Kona beer will be available at the show for prices not seen on the beach since the days of Scar Face and neon-colored wetsuits. After the doors open, expect to see some of the hottest local surf footage taken by local talent, all accompanied with great music.
Be ready to get totally radical when we raffle off some of the many sick prizes donated by our local surf shop institutions: Island Water Sports, F1RST, Quicksilver, Liquid Tube Surf Shop, and more!! We are also going to be screening the trailer of a soon-to-be-released surf flick, wow! (www.oneeyeproductions.com )
This is a family friendly event, so bring the groms and make sure you teach them how to properly hoot and holler when the boys on the big screen pull into the green room or throw mad spray.
Parking on the beach is a competitive sport, so get there early to find open street parking. Or, if you like to run on Miami Time, hit up the 17th street public parking garage and schlep it over to the gardens.
About the Feeature -
Teton Gravity Research (TGR) presents OUT THERE, a 16mm and HiDef film taking a progressive, fresh look at what faces the surf world today. Humankind threatens many pristine and favorite surf breaks and surfers need to take action. In partnership with the Surfrider Foundation, TGRs OUT THERE takes viewers to a variety of breaks around the world, showcasing the cutting edge surfing of today. Through the eyes and experiences of surfers and locals, the film takes a thought-provoking look into the environmental destruction threatening key surf spots such as Trestles in Southern California, surf in Southern Chile threatened by pulp mills, Teahupoo and its growing popularity, mainland Mexico, North Shore Hawaii near the Turtle Bay development and beyond.
OUT THERE incorporates state of the art cinematography utilizing board-cams, water-cams, land perspectives, jet-ski follow cams, and aerial cinematography. Through personalities, travel and explosive action the film will convey a seamless portrayal of the lifestyle that is surfing amid destitute of some of the worlds favorite surf spots.
