Spiral Songs: Imbolc & Deep Winter
Envisioned by mezzo soprano Claire McCahan and her sister, landscape architect Molly McCahan, Spiral Songs: Deep Winter is the next iteration of the Wheel of the Year, inviting participants to attune to the seasonal changes of our inner and outer landscapes through music.

Inspired by the cycles of the earth and the local landscape, with reference to the philosophy of the wheel of the year, the events program is crafted to reflect the qualities of the season of Imbolc, or mid-winter.  Ice and sleep cover the land as winters grip lingers and keeps us close to the hearth. Yet, just underneath the crunchy snow, little seeds, the sparks of new life, wait patiently for the sun to do its slow, thawing work. This is a time of fear and generosity, when having faith that spring will come and connecting with our communities comes to the fore.

FEBRUARY 3 & 4 at 2:00pm  - For Ages 12+ ($15 admission Fee)
This program symmetrically arcs, beginning with group singing, followed by musical performance of folk and classical songs, centered with time for nature exploration and reflection. Light refreshments will be available which incorporate locally-sourced ingredients. This program will take into consideration the weather and temperature conditions to ensure participant comfort.

FEBRUARY 3 11:00am-12:00pm - All ages, Family Friendly Event (Free)
Celebrating the deep winter with sing-alongs, storytelling, and song, this program is open to children and their caregivers. Attendees will participate in music and mindfulness, and are welcomed to explore the bog trails at the conclusion of the program.  Guests should be prepared to maintain their comfort in the winter temperatures and conditions while outside.

Claire and Molly grew up in Plymouth, NH exploring the streams, lakes, and forests of the Pemi-Baker Valley.  Spiral Songs comes from their shared desire to use music and mindfulness to honor and balance the constant changing of the seasons and cultivate connections to the landscapes that shape us.
