Bellevue Chamber Chorus: Why We Sing
Bellevue First Congregational Church
Bellevue, WA
Share this event:

JOIN BELLEVUE CHAMBER CHORUS for our 40th anniversary season kickoff celebration! This concert explores the power of music to shape the mind, soften the heart, and inspire the soul. Performances, with guest professional instrumentalists, include "Warum" by Johannes Brahms, Palestrinas five-voice motet Exultate Deo, Latvian composer riks Eenvalds "My Song," pieces by John Rutter, Dan Forrest, and more. Come hear rarely performed choral works such as Craig Carnahan's "Armistice 1918," a powerful setting of Siegried Sassoon's poem "Everyone Sang," written shortly after World War I. Finally, Virgil Thomson's songs "Follow Your Saint" and "Rose Cheek'd Laura Come" feature expressive love poetry by Thomas Campion that triumphantly assert music's ability to stir and inspire our most lust-filled moments. A concert not to be missed!
