The Steep Canyon Rangers
The Steep Canyon Rangers' quick ascent to the top of the acoustic music charts is all the more remarkable considering the band only turned professional in 2001. The Rangers are Graham Sharp (banjo, lead and harmony vocals), Woody Platt (guitar and lead vocals), Charles R. Humphrey III (bass and harmony vocals), Mike Guggino (mandolin and harmony vocals), and Nicky Sanders (fiddle and harmony vocals). The band's explosive growth in popularity is a direct result of their fearless exploration of the tradition of bluegrass and their relentless drive to create a sound that is completely original. Last year their song "One Dime At A Time" rose to No. 1 on Bluegrass Unlimited's National Bluegrass Survey.
