Marca Cassity - CD Release party for new album "Songs from the Well" with special guest Libby Kirkpatrick
Marca Cassity is pleased to announce the release of "Songs from the Well," an 11-song, tribally funded album of folk rock spirit songs produced by Julie Wolf at Fantasy studios. The album delivers a positive message with Native nuances that speaks to overcoming hardship through resilience, in connection to nature, humor, love, compassion, spirituality, and heritage.

Marca Cassity will be joined on stage for the night by a full band with Julie Wolf featured on keyboards.

Joining Marca Cassity will be special guest opener Libby Kirkpatrick.

About the Artists:

Marca Cassity is a bringer of acoustic soul spirit songs. Raised up in rural Oklahoma of Osage Indian heritage and blue collar sweat, hard work is no mystery to her, and it shows in her art and her expression. Soon outgrowing small town life, Marca set out on many inward and outward journeys, with her music and life being transformed by the influences of Pema Chodron, Ram Dass, Rumi, and transcendental music from around the world. Marca's early musical influences include Johnny Cash, Janis Joplin, and Neil Young. The grace and grit of these roots combined with the circular energy of mantra leaves listeners touched, opened, and inspired to dig in the dirt.

Fitting neatly between mentors a generation older like Ricki Lee Jones and Tom Waits, folk poet / avant garde force Libby Kirkpatrick emerged from her Philadelphia roots and classical training and bloomed in her 'minimalistic' overseas travel to India, Thailand, then Ireland where she began concentrating on singing original songs and playing acoustic guitar.  From 2001 until recently, she's been generally Austin, Texas based but, as ever, a rolling stone in her road warrior Toyota truck. Recent relocation to Cambridge, MA accompanied her transition to "homemaker-mama-wifey" as she raises son Charlie but also heralded a return to performing and especially recording with the 2011 release of the entrancing "Heroine".
