April Fools International Carnival-Masquerade!!!
Since the Dawn of Civilization, Fools have existed as a thriving subculture within the mundane world.

In this year of 2009, the Mad Russian Gypsies of the Fools Society continue their mission to spread Foolishness throughout the land.  Their past exploits in Portland, from the Fools Day March to the Naked Fools Parade across The Morrison Bridge, have increased public awareness of the
plight of the Fool and prepared the way for a New Age of the Absurd.

Now they expand their message to a new city, desperately in need of a good time: Seattle, WA.

Starting at the National Headquarters of the Fools Society, Portland, on April 3rd; we will travel overnight to The Emerald City in the company of our ambassadors The Bad Things.  There we will plant a seed of idiocy that will bloom and grow into a mighty oak in time for the fall of society in 2012.

Here is a state-of-disunion address from The Chairpersons of The Fools Society, Andre and Alma:

"Club Immigrant and Chervona here in Portland together with The Bad Things from Seattle are inviting you to celebrate April Fools Day!

Everyone big or small, computer geek or a specialist of boutique...has a fool living inside them. And it is very important that at least once a year around April 1st we all let our fools out and celebrate!  If we don't - it is scientifically proofed, the fool might come out by itself at the very inappropriate moment. So join our fools caravan on April 3rd at Dante's in Portland and April 4th at Rendezvous in Seattle for a grand All Fools Carnival Masquerade Ball!"

Fools from Portland to Seattle unite for this two day celebration!

Chervona - the jesters straight from the Winter Palace are bringing to you secret songs and music from long before, which forces any human being to dance. Not even Czars or Czarinas could resist.

The Bad Things - Bubbling forth like a mossy belch of polka filth from the greasy, jet fuel-contaminated wetlands of the Northwest, comes The Bad Things. With junkyard waltzes and shameless shanties, The Bad Things are hellbent on providing traditional music for the post-apocalyptic era.

Danbert Nobacon - Anarchist prankster and former frontperson for UK underground stalwarts Chumbawamba, in a rare solo performance.

Plus much much more!

A Law: all fools must be wearing a crown or a mask or a costume or nothing at all and there will be a contest for the best costume.

Every fool will have to pass a special newly developed and tested Apparatus Stupidous  fool-scan and depending on the results will be sent to the different procedures and specialists to improve the condition. And of course there will be prizes, surprises, art and shmart, come and let your fool out, just don't forget to take it back with you!

The Seattle show will begin with a Fools Parade down Second Avenue at 9pm and an opening set by Chervona in the Grotto beginning at 9:30pm.  Then festivities will move to the Jewelbox Theater with a set by Danbert Nobacon, The Bad Things, and another short set by Chervona.  DJ Global Ruckus will be spinning Balkan Beats all night long in the Grotto for your foolish dancing pleasure!

Tickets $10 in advance/$12 at the door.  This is a 21 and over event.  Space is extremely limited at the Rendevous so advanced tickets are highly recommended!
