Saturday ~ May 31, 2014 - 8 pm Battell Chapel New Haven, CT
(Pre-concert Composer's Presentation ~ 7:00 PM)
GNHCC has selected notable composer Jake Runestad for the 50th anniversary commission. This commissioned work is the culminating piece of a two-year project combining three art forms into one celebration for a city and region we all know and love - Greater New Haven. The five winning photos from the GNHCC photography contest and the winning poems from our recent poetry contest were used as Jake's inspiration for a five-movement musical composition that features the arts in and around New Haven. The program will feature some wonderfully diverse music that focuses on the human "spirit"! In addition to the world premiere performance of the 50th anniversary commissioned work, the program will include "Rejoice in the Lamb" by Benjamin Britten, and works by Gwyneth Walker, Gerald Finzi and Frank Ticheli.
Advance tickets may be ordered below, or be purchased at the door the evening of the performance. (Tickets at the box office on the evening of the performance: Adult - $20.00, Senior/Student w/ID - $12.00, and Children under 10 - $10.00)
(Pre-concert Composer's Presentation ~ 7:00 PM)
Doors open at 7:45 for General Seating.
