Sharkk Heartt at A Church - Salida, CO
Lara Ruggles is an activist, singer/songwriter, pianist, guitarist, and electronic music producer performing under the stage name Sharkk Heartt. Ruggles just returned to the Southwest from a month-long artist residency in Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park, and will be sharing several brand-new songs written during that time. Since 2011, Ruggles has released an EP, two albums, and four standalone singles both as Sharkk Heartt and under her own name. In 2017, Ruggles shared the stage with multiple Grammy Award winner LeAnn Rimes as part of her Today is Christmas tour; in 2021, her music video for Work Fires from her album Wars Our Mothers Fought won both the Tucson Idea Funding Creative Battle award, and Best Music Video at the Apex Film Festival; and in 2023, her music video for the single How to Love won Best Pop Video at Apex. As a crew member, Ruggles toured extensively (and sang the encore) with Gregory Alan Isakov from 2016-2018, and as a musician, she has toured with her own band, as a solo artist, and several times with activist and spoken-word poet Andrea Gibson, most recently joining their Right Now, I Love You Forever US tour in February 2020.
