The Media Department at the Ruth Asawa San Francisco School of the Arts -an SFUSD public arts high school-has been dedicated to cultivating innovation and experimentation in the area of film studies for more than 20 years.
Asawa SOTA Media students use the classroom, the school, and the greater Bay Area for locations and inspiration. Using a variety of methods and techniques to articulate personal and socially relevant content, students work across genres to create award-winning shorts: narrative, documentary, animated, and experimental.
"Saturday at the Cinema" will challenge your preconceptions of "the student film." The afternoon's program will showcase a variety of youth works directed, shot, and edited entirely by students from the past several years.
The proceeds from this one-time screening will support the department's upcoming annual trip to New York City this Spring. Join us!
